On the Other End of the Leash

We are having so much fun meeting people because of our dogs. We have met so many great and interesting people, due to a puppy or an adult dog.

If you have ever even walked a dog down a street with very many people, you know what I mean. All of a sudden people notice you. You see a smile slowly spread across their face as they look at your dog, and then finally up to see who is on the other end of that leash. They may…or they may not talk to you. But you have been touched. If they talk to you, it will be all about your dog. And the next thing you know, another person stops, with all of the same reactions. You may end up with a group of people, hanging around your dog, smiling of course, and talking about your dog. Or talking about a dog they had as a child. Or a dog they once met. But it’s all about dogs.

What is it about a dog that brings out the friendliness in us? Why are we more relaxed because a dog is present?

I would just like to say thank you to my dogs.  Thank you for helping me smile a little more. Thank you for helping me be more relaxed, even around my own species. Thank you for the unconditional love. The world sure is a better place with a little more love. Thank you for letting me be on the other end of the leash.
